A Full House for the World Premiere Screening of Documentary Film Beyond the Raging Sea at the El Gouna Film Festival
At its world premiere at the 3rd El Gouna Film Festival (GFF), director Marco A Orsini's adventure documentary film Beyond the Raging Sea had a full house screening after all tickets were sold-out a few hours before the screening. A huge number of celebrities, public figures and media representatives attended the screening. The film tells the story of Egyptian adventurers Omar Samra and Omar Nour while trying to row across the Atlantic in an open boat.
The premiere night was attended by Yousra, Elham Shahin, Inas El Degheidy, Arwa Gouda, Tara Emad, Mai El Ghaty, along with director Karim El Shenawy, screenwriter Tamer Habib, and actors Ahmed Hatem and Karim Kassem. The attendees expressed their great admiration of how a documentary film could be so exciting and engaging. They also strongly interacted with the message of the film that was reveled toward the end.
Beyond the Raging Sea is an adventure documentary about the world's toughest rowing challenge - an unsupported, 3,000 nautical mile journey from San Sebastian, La Gomera in the Spanish Canary Islands to Nelson's Dockyard English Harbour in Antigua. Dedicating their high-profile endeavor to a humanitarian cause, well-known Egyptian adventurer Omar Samra and Egyptian triathlete Omar Nour row across the Atlantic in an open boat, unsupported.
Beyond the Raging Sea is the gripping first person account of that experience narrated by those who lived it, capturing what they endured, what they felt and what it meant.
The film participated in the Doc Corner of the March√© du Film at the Cannes Film Festival.
Written and directed by Marco A Orsini, Beyond the Raging Sea is produced by Marco A Orsini in collaboration with DHL, UNHCR, IEFTA, UNDP, and executive producers Omar Samra, Omar Nour and John Giwa-Amu. The film's original music is composed by George Acogny. MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution and marketing in the Arab world.
Omar Nour was once the world's fastest Arabic professional triathlete. Training to represent Egypt at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, he was sidelined by injuries early that year.
Omar Samra is an adventurer, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and UN Goodwill Ambassador. He's the first Egyptian to climb Mount Everest, summit the highest mountain on each continent, and ski to both North and South Poles.
Marco A Orsini is an award-winning writer, director and producer whose films have screened at Tribeca and Sundance, among other important festivals. He is the President of the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) of Monaco.
