Providing Promotional and Distribution Services to the Winning Film
Room for a Man Wins MAD Solutions Award at Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden
MAD Solutions announced Lebanese documentary Room for a Man by Anthony Chidiac a winner of its award at Malmo Arab Film Festival (MAFF) which opened two days ago.
On behalf of MAD Solutions, Maher Diab, Creative Director and Managing Partner and a jury member, handed the award to the winning film project. The award comprises theatrical distribution and promotional services provided by the company to Room for a Man which landed as a winner from amongst five documentary Arab films that have been vying at the first MAFF Market Forum.
MAD award is part of a partnership deal forged with MAFF which also includes the launching of the company's third Arab Cinema Center (ACC) aiming at promoting Arab film industry at the heart of one of the most prominent film events in the Scandinavian countries. Ten film companies and organizations are partnering in this edition of the Center with varying activities to produce, distribute, support and promote Arab cinema.
MAD Solutions had previously offered awards to several film projects that took part in film festival markets. The documentary film Separation by Iraqi director Hakar Abdel Kader won the MAD Prize as it took part in the 3rd Final Cut Venice workshop held during the 2015 Venice Film Festival. L'Amour des hommes film project (Tunisia/France) by director Mehdi Ben Attia and Ruqya (Algeria/France) by director Yanis Koussim also won the award after both projects participated in the Open Doors Initiative held during the 68th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
Arab Cinema Center (ACC), organized by MAD Solutions, is operating as an international promotional platform for Arab cinema as it provides Arab filmmakers with a professional window to connect with filmmakers all over the world through a number of events that it organizes and provides networking opportunities with representatives of companies and institutions specialized in co-production and international distribution, among others.
The ACC's activities vary between hosting film screenings within the festival's film market, organizing networking sessions and meetings with international film companies and organizations, and publishing the Arab Cinema Guide to be distributed among the festival's guests.
The Center debuted at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, promoting 11 film industry institutions and companies and it received averagely 1500 daily visitors, and managing 7 interactive meetings that were held with a group of distinguished members of the industry; including the Robert Bosch Stiftung (Germany), in addition to connecting with 20 film festivals to attract Arab participations. The second edition of ACC was launched at the 68th Cannes Film Festival. This time, the Center promoted 18 organizations and companies. Variety magazine became an official media sponsor for the Center by publishing all its related news. The Center formed another partnership with Festival Scope to publish news online.
