Saudi Film Ertidad Screens at the Quebec City Film Festival in Canada

Director Mohammed Alhamoud's short film Ertidad (Goin South) will screen at the 10th Québec City Film Festival (QCFF) in Canada on Thursday September 17 at 01:00 PM (GMT -4).

Founded in 2011, the Québec City Film Festival (QCFF) is a non-profit charity organization that strives to offer film enthusiasts from Québec and visitors from outside the province and abroad a major film event similar to other iconic international film festivals.

Ertidad is the first Saudi film to get selected for the Official Competition at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The film screened at many international film festivals, including the Cleveland International Film Festival in the U.S., Kolkata International Film Festival in India, Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, and Bali International Short Film Festival in Indonesia, along with several European film festivals, such as the Black Nights Film Festival (P√ĖFF Shorts) in Estonia, Lublin Film Festival in Poland, and the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

A newlywed couple pays their first visit to the groom's hometown in a small Southern Saudi village where they will celebrate their marriage. Nervous and desperate for her in-laws' approval, the bride, Aya, makes a daring choice, while her husband Nader tries to cope with the consequences. The new relationship is put under its first test.

Written and directed by Mohammed Alhamoud, Ertidad stars Fatima Albanawi and Aymen Mutahar. The film received a grant from the King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) after winning at the Saud Film Days in 2017. Ertidad was entirely shot in Al Hasamah village in Jizan Province, south-western Saudi Arabia. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.
