Tamer Mohsen Gets Full Access to the Writers' Room in Hollywood

At the University of Southern California (USC), Director and Screenwriter Tamer Mohsen will take part in a five-weeklong-series of workshops for TV screenwriters at USC School of Cinematic Arts. The workshops are held as part of the Middle East Media Initiative (MEMI), a Hollywood training and mentorship program, which brings Arab screenwriters together with top American screenwriters to exchange ideas and learn about the 'Writers' Room' format that is widely used in the U.S. television industry. Mohsen was also selected to take part in this program's workshop for television scriptwriters that was held in Cairo, Egypt, last January.

Learning from Hollywood's top TV showrunners, the Middle East Media Initiative (MEMI) program aims to boost the careers of Arabic TV writers and producers from Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. The program hosted 10 writers and seven producers last summer.

Held in collaboration with Birthmark Scenario, Tamer Mohsen was selected to be part of a weeklong-series of workshops for television screenwriters last January. These workshops were led by top Hollywood names, including Producer and Screenwriter David Isaacs, who received an Emmy Award for his comedy TV series, Cheers, and co-produced the TV hit, Mad Men, Producer Larry Balmagia (M*A*S*H), Producer Larry Andries (Six Feet Under), and Producer Terri Kopp (Law & Order).
