Theeb Screens at Dar El-Nimer for Arts & Culture

Jordanian film Theeb will screen at Dar El-Nimer for Arts & Culture in Beirut on Tuesday, January 29, at 6:30 PM (GMT +2) as part of its January program that is held in partnership with the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC).The program is dedicated to Jordanian cinema, where a Jordanian film will screen each Tuesday during January.

Dar El-Nimer is an independent non- profit art foundation, based in Beirut, for historical, modern and contemporary cultural productions from Palestine and the region. Dar El-Nimer promotes deep historical awareness and keen intellectual maturity by hosting productions by curators, writers, historians, performers, musicians and filmmakers, whose work engages with the challenging social realities and political currents shaping the region.

Most recently, Theeb screened at the 1st Casablanca Arab Film Festival, withinits Arab Panorama section. The film won many awards at international film festivals, including the Best Director Award at the Venice International Film Festival and three awards at the 12th Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora in Morocco. The film helped its director become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) after being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film. Variety magazine also selected Naji Abu Nowar as Arab Filmmaker of the Year in 2014.

Theeb is Jordanian director/writer Naji Abu Nowar's debut feature film, which he co-scripted with Bassel Ghandour. Set in the Arabian Desert of 1916, the film follows Theeb, a young Bedouin boy, and his brother Hussein as they leave the safety of their tribe to venture on a treacherous journey at the dawn of the Great Revolt. If Theeb is to survive he must quickly learn about adulthood, trust and betrayal.

Theeb is produced by Bayt Al Shawareb, which was founded by Jordanian writer and producer Bassel Ghandour, in association with Rupert Lloyd's Noor Pictures and in co-production with Nasser Kalaji and Laith Majali's Immortal Entertainment. Nadine Toukan is the Executive Producer and MAD Solutions is acting as Theeb's regional marketing consultant and regional distributor across the Arab world.
