Director Rifqi Assaf's The Curve and Nadine Khan's In the Land of Wonder

Two Films Produced by Film Clinic Win Three Awards at Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF)

Two films produced by Film Clinic have won three awards at the Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) in Sweden. Palestinian actor Ashraf Barhoum, who stars in director Rifqi Assaf's The Curve, won the Best Actor Award. On the other hand, Nadine Khan's film project In the Land of Wonder won two awards at the MAFF Development Funding. The film earned 150,000 KR in funding (almost $ 18,000) offered by the Swedish Film Institute. The film project also won an award at the Luxor African Film Festival, which facilitates the attendance of the film's director at a film development workshop during the next round of the festival.

The Malmö Arab Film Festival is dedicated to screening films from across the Arab world for the different communities, about 175 different nationalities, living in Sweden. The festival welcomes thousands of cinema-goers from Malmö and the region as well as famous actors, directors, producers and film professionals to enjoy the year's greatest films from the Arab world.

About The Curve:

Written and directed by Rifqi Assaf, The Curve stars Palestinian star Ashraf Barhoum, Syrian actress Fatina Layla, Lebanese actor Mazen Moadam and Jordanian Ashraf Telfah. The film is a joint production between Jordanian Rula Nasser (The Imaginarium Films), Egyptian Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic) and French Xénia Maingo (Eaux Vives Productions). MAD Solutions is handling the film's distribution and marketing worldwide.

The Curve is about Radi, who leads a reclusive life in his own van, finds himself on a road trip with three strangers that alters his clockwork and very private lifestyle.

The Curve had its world premiere at the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The film landed its European premiere at the 15th East End Film Festival (EEFF) in the UK. In addition, The Curve participated at the 5th Festival International de Cinémaet Mémoire Commune de Nador (International Festival of Common Memory Cinema in Nador) and also had its North American premiere at the 42nd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) in the USA. Most recently, The Curve opened the 6th Arab Film Festival Amman.

About In The Land of Wonder:

In The Land of Wonder film project is an adaptation of the English writer Lewis Carroll's celebrated novel Alice in Wonderland which has been translated into many languages. The film is written by Nora Elsheikh (Dry, Hot Summers, short film) and Mahmoud Ezzat (Villa 69) and is directed by Nadine Khan (Harag w' Marag). Set against the backdrop of contemporary Cairo, the Egyptianized film adaptation plunges the film's lead character into the chaos of the city's streets.

Recently, the film took part in the International Financing Forum (IFF) that was as part of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it was presented by Producers Mohamed Hefzy and Jennifer Peterson (Film Clinic) during the event. Later, the film was joined by the Swedish production house Anagram as a co-producer.
